Why Propellor | Springboard?
The global, multi-billion $ market for film production, distribution and experience is almost untouched by peak technology (AI, block chain and big data) and new forms of social interaction (sharing economy, co-creation, and crowd-sourcing). There are huge business and innovation potentials in the film industry waiting to be unleashed!
Use this weekend as a springboard into the future of the film industry and change the way films are produced, distributed and experienced!
What is it?
A two-days ideation workshop for interdisciplinary participants to develop business models that can propel the film industry into the future.
1. Pitch your killer business idea or get inspired by someone else's idea (pitches are max 3 min) - business ideas can be for non-fiction or fiction, linear or non-linear formats - as long as your idea is about business, not about specific content
2. Form or join a team of like-minded doers and thinkers
3. Network, learn and work 2 full days
4. Get support from inspiring mentors
5. Pitch again at the end (you'll see the difference)
6. Go out, make it real!
Is something about the way films are produced, distributed or experienced keeping you up at night? Have you identified a need or found a solution to a problem? Or do you see an opportunity to transfer a business case from another industry into the film industry?
Then join the Propellor | Springboard!
You will work in a small team applying:
>> the business model canvas
>> best practices of pitching
>> testing and validation techniques
The outcome of your team's work can be a demo, a pitch deck or a prototype - anything that helps you to convey the key aspects of your business model (Why, What, How, for Whom).
Who should attend?
>> Seasoned professionals
from within or outside the film industry
Whether your big love is big data, artificial intelligence or the blockchain, whether new forms of social interaction such as co-creation, crowd-sourcing or the sharing economy make your heart beat faster, whether you want to disrupt cinema as a collective experience or have a killer idea of how filmmakers can communicate directly with their audiences: the sky is the limit as long as you have a vision, passion and determination.
>> Come with or without an idea and develop solutions for a specific problem, need or business opportunity you have identified.
>> Get your hands dirty, get inspired - and contribute to propelling the film industry into the future!
Why should I join?
>> Apply successful startup tools to the development of your idea
>> Meet like-minded doers, creatives & thinkers
>> Get inspired, get new insights
>> Receive feedback from experts and validation from potential users
>> Tap into Propellor’s international network in film & tech
What do I get?
>> Get a CPH:DOX surprise bag
>> Enjoy great hospitality (meals and drinks provided throughout the event)
>> Spend 2 days with inspiring people in an inspiring location
>> Become part of a community of innovators
>> Catch one of the two cool awards: Peer Award and Mentor Award (accreditations to CPH:DOX, books, vouchers and much more; details coming soon)
What are you waiting for?
Catalyst for change and innovation | Technology advocate
Our amazing facilitator Daniel Johnson will drive the atmosphere to brim with energy. From now on, you'll wish every weekend was a Propellor | Sprinboard weekend.
Highly skilled and experienced mentors with diverse backgrounds in film and tech will help you sharpen and improve your product and your pitch. They will help you move your idea forwards. Benefit of their wisdom!
Since this is a collaborative, co-creative event, the ideas pitched on Sunday night will most likely be very different from the initial pitches on Friday night. The end result will reflect an entire team's creative effort and each team working on an idea will decide together how they treat the topic of ownership. If you are concerned about this, or have questions, please get in touch with us.
But remember: "To me, ideas are worth nothing unless executed. They are just a multiplier. Execution is worth millions." -- Steve Jobs
